MX Player AC3 Audio Format Not Supported Solution

MX Player has officially removed some audio codecs such as AC3, DTS, MLP, etc due to some license issues. When you play any video in mx player, you get an error Audio Format AC3 is not supported. It means your video will be like muted, only video will play. When this kind of error shows up, don’t delete the video or don’t uninstall MX Player. :p This error means you need an extra Codec to get audio of those videos. So, lets see how to fix AC3 Audio Format error of MX Player.

How to FIX MX Player AC3 Audio Format Not Supported Problem

  • Open MX Player. Go to Main Menu.
  • Go to Setting

  • Click on Decoder

  • Find Custom Codec and see your custom codec type. Mine is ARMv7 Neon Custom Codec. Basically there are 4 types of codecs available. They are Neon, Tegra 2, Tegra 3, x86. One codec type will not support other types. So, download the codec type from the download link given above properly.
  • After Downloading, place the zip file in the internal memory or in the download folder.
  • Now, open MX Player. MX Player will automatically detect the codec if compatible code found. Press Ok, and Restart MX Player.

Sometimes, MX Player can not detect codec automatically. If it can not find codec automatically, don’t panic. 😀  Follow the steps

  • If MX player do not find codec automatically, Open MX Player. Go to Setting>Decoder and scroll down to Custom Codec
  • Click on Custom Codec. A selection pop-up will appear. Find the correct path of MX  Player Codec.zip which you downloaded.
  • MX Player will fetch the new codec and will ask you to restart the app.
  • Bingo! AC3 Audio Format Not Supported problem of your MX player is solved now.

  • Go to Menu>Help>About to confirm the codec installation.
